Aplikasi kecil yang satu ini memang tidak bisa dianggap enteng. walaupun berukuran kecil namun kemampuannya untuk melaksanakan extract data dalam banyak sekali file kompresi bisa diandalkan, selain itu juga aplikasi kompresi ini bisa memisahkan file yang berukuran besar kedalam file yang berukuran kecil, baik itu secara custom, kita sendiri yang menetukan berapa besaran file yang akan dipisah, maupun secara otomatis pilihan sudah ada dalam aplikasi tersebut.
Aplikasi 7zip berjalan diberbagai platform sistem operasi, baik itu di Linux, Windows, Windows Phone, FreeBSD, Solaris, Mac OS X dan masih banyak lagi.
